Google Antigravity Transforms Into Autonomous AI Agent Platform at I/O 2026
Google is drastically expanding Antigravity, repositioning it from a coding environment into a full platform for developing and managing teams of autonomous AI agents. The company announced the shift at I/O 2026 alongside a new desktop application, command-line interface, SDK, and enterprise cloud integration.

Koray Kavukcuoglu, CTO of Google DeepMind and Chief AI Architect at Google, confirmed the strategic pivot during a press briefing. “We are expanding Antigravity beyond a coding environment and turning it into a platform to develop and manage teams of autonomous AI agents,” he said. The platform now supports millions of developers, according to Google.
New Desktop App, CLI, and SDK
The centerpiece is Antigravity 2.0, a standalone desktop application that acts as a central hub for agent orchestration. Developers can coordinate multiple agents simultaneously—one generating code, another producing brand assets, and a third handling product architecture planning.
For terminal enthusiasts, Google introduced the Antigravity CLI, offering a lightweight interface to launch agents without a graphical environment. Existing Gemini CLI users are encouraged to migrate.
The Antigravity SDK provides programmatic access to the same agent harness powering Google’s internal tools. It is co-optimized for Gemini 3.5 Flash, a model that outperforms Gemini 3.1 Pro on nearly all benchmarks and runs four times faster than competing frontier models, according to Google.
Cloud Integration and Enterprise Features
Through Managed Agents in the Gemini API, a single API call can spin up a full agent that reasons, uses tools, and executes code inside a persistent, isolated Linux environment. State and files persist across follow-up calls, enabling multi-turn sessions without re-initialization.
For enterprises, Antigravity integrates with the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, allowing Google Cloud customers to connect directly to their Cloud projects. A new $100-per-month Google AI Ultra tier provides additional capacity.

Varun Mohan, Director of Software Engineering at Google DeepMind, and Logan Kilpatrick, Member of the Technical Staff, wrote in a blog post: “Google Antigravity is our agent-first development platform for developers to take an idea and turn it into a production-ready app. Today, we’re expanding the Antigravity ecosystem to manage and deploy agents that can integrate across key developer surfaces.”
